- Change the backup file’s name from msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt12 to msgstore.db.crypt12 before restoring it. An older backup could have been created using a different protocol, such as crypt9 or crypt10. Don’t alter the crypt extension’s number.
- Reinstall WhatsApp if necessary. Then enable the Restore option to retrieve the old WhatsApp messages.

iCloud Backup
We can retrieve deleted WhatsApp messages on iPhones through iCloud Backup. The backup to iCloud can be done manually or automatically.
Before starting the backup process, ensure that your iCloud drive is on. To on the iCloud drive you have to sign in using your Apple ID and your Password. Once the iCloud Drive account is enabled, you can follow any of the below backup methods under any circumstances.
